My full name is Carol A. Strickland. I returned to painting and writing with the sudden and painful onset of Mid-Life Crisis, a VERY real thing. It was then that I determined that I would paint full-time once I retired. For that I wanted to hit the ground running. (My retirement begins 16 Feb 2022, 4PM ET, not that I'm checking my watch or anything.)
I'm probably best known art-wise for flower pictures and landscapes that reflect my enthusiasm for travel, light, color, and texture. I prefer to keep at least a modest amount of realism in my art... unless I'm in A Mood. I’d love to say my work contains a great deal of spiritual content but… I'm still working on increasing that element.
Along with 95% of the art world, my influences are the impressionists, whether they be from France, California, Canada, or Lizard Lick. Light and color dazzle me, as does chocolate. I wish that acrylics dried slower and oils dried faster (the tech is getting there), and that neither required varnishing, which is a crashing bore and sheer heck on brushes.
I hope you will also explore my more extensive website (this is just the art section of it), buy a few paintings, buy my books (don't forget to leave a review on Amazon), make me rich, find me a husband, and maybe learn a thing or two about Wonder Woman along the way. (Check out my latest book, Star-Spangled Panties.)
And no, I won't mind if you call me "Carol."
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
